ZBUM's Turbo Timer Install

Since they really aren't used for much while driving, and to keep it out of prying eyes, I installed my turbo timer in the old ashtray. Also helps that I don't smoke, nor allow anyone to smoke in my car.

Components:

Note that the back has been cut off both the tray and the mount. The turbo timer is slightly longer than the ashtray. This isn't a problem because there is plenty of room behind the unit.

Hinge:

The hinge is held in place with JB weld on both the ashtray and the timer mounting tray. This keeps the profile low by eliminating the nuts and bolts. I'm not worried about JB Weld breaking as there isn't much pressure or tension on it at any time.

Turbo Timer set in place in the sub-tray:

Spring comparison:

They are attached at the bottom front of the hinged tray and at about the middle of the mounting bracket. This makes it so that there is no tension on the springs when it's closed, but the farther out you pull, the harder it pulls the tray up. Pull too far, and the whole thing slides closed.
